i understand this situation..
whenever i am bored... i occupy myself by playing an online game called maplestory.
a quick review and research into the game reveals that its immensely popular with kids and adults because of its rich 2d art style and gameplay.
a more appropriatel point for its appeal is that while the game encompasses the butchering of monsters or 'mobs' that, usually, is a platform for violence, the game has masked this alarming nature of evil thoughts with cutesy graphics and harmless animation.
players are whirlled into a fantasy world where they are given an avatar with different job skills to choose from. personalising an avatar is a must so that players will be individually outstanding from each other. of course, players who dont mind spending cold hard cash will get to mix and match their avatar with more intricate add ons.
the game is, to my own personal view, is just the same as any other games. its just another different gaming perspective of a reward and punishment system. reward are given to users when they perform quests or by killing the monsters that are strewn all over the place in the game.
what makes me play this game is that, im bored.
alone in my room, no one to interact with, i usually depend on this game to kill off my boredom.
and it is effective too because in the virtual world of maplestory, the rewards i get for playing the game is above satisfactory. i get to interact with other players and i get virtual game money and items that sometimes i can practise my barter skills to sell or even trade with other users.
to sum up this blog, Maplestory treats me good. its there when i need it, its there when i want it. nuff said.
